Travertine was used to build the Coliseum and many other buildings in ancient Rome. Suitable for both internal and external applications, it has literally stood the test of time and is still deservedly one of the most popular stones today. Travertine comes in an array of tones from pale to dark beige. The stone can be cut across or with the vein for very different effects.
